Confidence: I don't speak English Fluently but I write English Perfectly



A quick recap about my background 

I belong to a Bilingual country where more than 75% of the population are native French speakers including me. Having pursued a purely Francophone education throughout my journey in secondary school, I decided to take a bold step to study computer engineering in a purely Anglo-Saxon University. Even Though I have a lot of success in my career as a software engineer, I keep struggling with the English language. I believe English will be key to more of my professional success in the future, especially if I want to get more exposure and speak to the world like I'm doing right now. This has pushed me to acquire an acceptable level which permits me to thrive in my professional career as well as my day to day life.


Throughout this post, I'll be sharing my experience of how my dream became a reality.

I can tell you with confidence that at the end of this article you will be able to write professional documents, emails, and even more, just with your little English you know so far plus a single tool called Grammarly.

To your attention: for this to work well you need to know the basic English that can allow you to construct meaningful sentences or in other words, you should be able to read and understand English.

We all know that it is very easy to write a message to a friend, you don’t need to worry about typos or your writing style as long as you both understand each other. However writing to thousands, if not millions of people out there requires a whole lot of attention and much understanding of the subject in question.

Unlike a message to a friend, a blog can be thousands of words long and as humans, we are not perfect, we make mistakes. That’s why there is always the need to edit and proof read contents before they are being published. For me, this is the most difficult part. I prefer it when someone else goes through my content to spot out all the errors I made. But that’s not always the case.


As a blogger creating high-quality content is one of the key factors that contribute to your success online, and we all know that great content should be error-free, clear, and engaging. Grammarly detects plagiarism, by comparing your writing to billions of web pages across the web. Which can be very useful in the context of academic content. However, this feature requires a premium subscription.

Apart from all the above-mentioned reasons, Grammarly will also do this for you to improve your English.


You learn and enhance your vocabulary: The more you keep using Grammarly the more you see where you make mistakes in your writings, there are certain words you keep spelling wrongly (e.g. “receive”, “recieve”). I guess you still don’t know which of them is correct 😊. At times you simply don’t use the appropriate words (e.g. Instead of saying “I’m very happy…” why not say “I’m thrilled…”, “I’m pleased…” or “I’m delighted”).
